Contemporary Nude Male Art

In the Twentieth and Twenty-first centuries there has been an explosion of Contemporary Nude Male Art. We are limiting our presentations to non-photographic media because of concerns over proper rights and because of the sheer bulk of the material available. We hope in the near future to create a photographic section for Male Nude Art.

Among the Realist artists, we have found a representation of Male Nude Art in the work of Thomas Eakins who became known as the foremost American artist of the Nineteenth Century. The Art Nouveau German artist Franz von Stuck has also experimented with the form. Within Expressionist sculpture, there is a spectacular example created by Emile Bourdelle and Expressionist Painting can be seen in the works of Francis Bacon . Impressionism is also represented in the male nude works of John Singer Sargent . Within the Symbolist movement, there is a work by Jean Delville which is stunning.

The Precisionist School is represented by a work from Charles Demuth while a Cubist work of Dada artist Marcel Duchamp represents his school. The work of Keith Vaughan is more difficult to classify, but many hold that his works are at least semi-Abstract.

Living artists are also represented in Contemporary Nude Male Art with their kind permission. We have representations of the work of Jon Smith and Troy Caperton , both of Austin, Texas. We are constantly in search of more quality work of the Male Nude in non-photographic form. Should you have a recommendation for us, please email the webmaster.
